The AI Act, in plain terms
Who does the AI Act apply to?
Any organization that provides, imports, distributes or deploys AI systems in the European Union, even through free tools like ChatGPT. Since 2 February 2025, Article 4 asks it to take measures so that its teams have a sufficient level of AI literacy.
What exactly does Article 4 require?
To take measures to support your teams' AI literacy, at a level suited to their uses and the risks involved. It is an obligation of means: no training format or certificate is imposed. The TROIE course is one way to do it, and it leaves a dated record.
What does my company risk by doing nothing?
The regulation's penalty regime applies since 2 August 2026: national supervisory authorities can audit and sanction. Getting compliant beforehand turns an obligation into an advantage.
Is the TROIE attestation an official certification?
No, and beware of promises of an 'AI Act certification': there is no official one. TROIE issues a personal training attestation, dated and verifiable online, that documents the training effort required by Article 4.
How long does it take to get compliant?
The AI Act track takes about 2 hours: 5-minute lessons, one quiz per module, a final exam. Most learners finish in a few days, a few minutes a day, and the attestation is generated immediately after passing the exam.
How much does it cost?
